Harborcreek Township will see more development as residential and commercial real estate make way for the area

Harborcreek Township will see more development over the next few months as more residential and commercial real estate make way for Buffalo Road.

We went to Harborcreek to find out more about this development.

Not only is development happening in the city, but head east to Harborcreek Township. Commercial and residential developments are underway along Buffalo Road.

Harborcreek Township is seeing more local and national developments appear on Buffalo Road, including Chipotle, Modwash and a new sports bar Roscos.

Township supervisors hope this will attract more residents to the eastern part of the county.

“Growth is a big deal for us, but smart growth where we want it. So on Buffalo Road, at the interchanges where there is infrastructure where there is water and sewer, where we are designed to grow and right now that is what is happening. So it’s really a win-win today,” said Harborcreek Township Supervisor Dean Pepicello.

Residential developments are also making way in Harborcreek after supervisors said there was a need for single-family homes.

Maleno Custom Building and Real Estate is adding a new 14-home community off Buffalo Road on Suzanne Drive called Harbor Woods at Six Mile Creek.

“We knew there was a demand for housing in Harborcreek and especially single family homes, and after speaking with the supervisors there, we realized there was definitely a demand for more housing in Harborcreek. So we were excited about this opportunity,” said Natalie Washburn, Owner/Broker at Maleno Custom Building.

Most of an old place has been vacant for many years, but there is now hope in the coming year that this space that was once Kmart will be filled.

“Yeah, with everything going on around it, we’ve had pretty solid negotiations with out-of-town Kmarts, former owners of Kmart buildings on the corner of Buffalo Road and Nagle. It’s not there yet, but we’re pretty optimistic for 2022 and hope there will be some good news about it,” said Pepicello.

As an Erie native, Maleno owner Washburn said she’s thrilled to be part of the growing communities not just in Harborcreek, but all of Erie.

“It’s exciting, it’s very exciting for Erie, you know the growth that’s coming. communities benefit from the growth,” Washburn said.

Chipotle is expected to open at the end of the month.
